Hi everyone, my name is Professor Freddy Trillo, and I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I’ll start first with my police work:

Police Officer 20 Years

S.W.A.T. Officer

Defensive Tactics Police Instructor

Gracie Combatives Certified Instructor(2008)

Gracie Jiujitsu Black Belt(2008)

In 1993, I began my training and career in Gracie Jiujitsu, not long after seeing UFC Legend Royce Gracie fight in the first few Ultimate Fighting Championships. It was simply amazing to see an average man fight and beat fighters that were bigger and stronger than he was with just technique and leverage. As a young police officer having just come out of the police academy, I knew he needed to learn more self-defense than what was taught at the police academy to properly defend myself.

I originally started training under Carlson Gracie Sr. by his instructors Conan Silveira. I stayed with Conan for 2 years before I decided to go train with Professor Pedro Valente from the Valente Brothers. The Valente Brothers offered a self defense program and curriculum that was better suited for my police work. I continued to train with the Valente Brothers for the next 17 years, and received my black belt in 2008.

In 2010 I opened my academy, Trillo Jiujitsu Academy in Miami Lakes. It has been a blessing having my own academy and being able to teach so many adults and children the art of Jiujitsu. In June of 2014 I retired from police work to go run my academy full-time. I now offer morning, afternoon and night classes, as well as a kids after school program and summer camp.

I currently train with Professor Rafael Lima(Gordihno) from Start Jiujitsu Academy, who has awarded me my professors rank in Jiujitsu in December 2014.

Throughout my years of training, I have been fortunate to take classes with GM Helio Gracie, Royce Gracie, Rorion Gracie, Ryron, Ralek and Rener Gracie, Relson Gracie, Rickson Gracie, Carlson Gracie, Grand Master Pedro Valente Sr., Gui and Joaquim Valente, Rafael Lima, Master Jean Jacques Machado, Renzo Gracie and Rickson Gracie. I feel completely blessed to have been able to train with the smartest and best instructors in the world.
